Travelling is a leisure which demands a considerable amount of pocket money. Vacation money is used for hotel reservation, taxi or automobile rental, dining, and take-home mementos from the location you stayed in.

However, Lisa Grossberg, General Manager of Burkingham Hotel in New York, revealed that most visitors expend most of their money for food and drinks on their getaways. "For the average hotel guest, dining can make up anywhere from a third to a half of the total spend on an average trip."

Whether you have plotted your travel to that much-awaited summer vacation spot, or still scheduling your next holiday bonanza, here are some recommendations on the best way to conserve cash for your next holiday:

1. Dine-in instead of dining out

Many lodges in the cities and even timeshare properties now come with a fully-equipped kitchen which provides all the things needed by guests who love to cook dinner. Booking in stay-in rooms with a state-of the-art kitchen can save you a whole lot of money, and will even provide you sheer satisfaction because you have the power to combine and match the ingredients that you will use for your courses.

Grossberg explained that more and more travelers can find good packages on some deluxe resorts due to this development, particularly since kitchens and high-end Viking equipment are already supplied for a fantastic dine-in experience.

Grossberg said: "The overdevelopment of timeshares in 2008 has left a lot of hoteliers with a wider inventory than they anticipated. As a result, travelers can find great deals on some very deluxe condos, some with Viking kitchens and high-end appliances!"

2. STOCK THE Fridge. Treat your hotel-room fridge like your belly. Stock meals and beverages in your fridge in case you feel hungry at any time. Instead of paying out around $40 for a low-class breakfast served daily, why not break eggs in a hot pan, heat up loaves of bread in a toaster, and brew a home-made coffee. That's a better breakfast to start your day.

3. Perk up the night in your own bar

A bottle of liquor or two won't hurt... unless you choose to spend your money unwisely on overpriced bottles from the in-room mini bar. Dedicate some time running to the closest liquor or convenient store to get wine or beer, paired with large packs of chips or nuts. With this, you can preserve more money and you will surely get more satisfied playing the bartender of your own mini bar.

4.Appreciate MOTHER NATURE. To put it simply, delight in the low-cost activities that you can do outdoors. Depending on your travel getaway and preference, there are always exciting but reasonably priced pastimes available to you. These activities can take up a large bit of your time and are as gratifying as anything else. Example, if you chose to go to an island paradise, why not try fishing or reef diving? These activities do not cost much and if you're able to have a good catch, you get to keep it. Going to the mountains, there's mountain climbing and trekking. Both are physically demanding but are very fulfilling.

Also, wherever it is that you decide to go, try to blend with the locals; they always have intriguing insights and lifestyles that you can learn a lot from, and you don't even have to give them anything. Most travel destinations have people that are very hospitable and open to cater to visitors' needs. Keep in mind that travelling is not all about fun; it's also about finding out new things about our world and its many distinct people.
